Subaru Opens Dealership in Brampton
Award Winning Subaru Veteran Russ Osborne to Lead New Team

Brampton, ON, September 2, 2008 - Subaru Canada announced today the opening of a new Subaru dealership, located in the Brampton Auto Mall.  The surrounding region including Brampton, Caledon, and Georgetown has shown strong market demand for Subaru's products.  Subaru customers who were traveling well outside the region to purchase and service their vehicles can now look forward to a dealership close to home.

Subaru veteran Russ Osborne has been selected to lead the new dealership.  Osborne is an award winning manager with 10 years of Subaru experience, and 20 years of automotive experience.  He is widely respected in the industry for his approachability, and for his warm and sincere customer service style.

"I'm thrilled to be leading the new team at Subaru of Brampton," Osborne indicated.  "I look forward to welcoming existing Subaru customers in our new home in the Brampton Auto Mall, and introducing the surrounding community to a quality, environmentally-friendly brand which so many people are passionate about."

Subaru is the industry leader in All-Wheel Drive technology.  The safety, control and performance of the Subaru symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive system has since endeared itself to Canadians, who have helped Subaru sales in Canada to reach record heights.

Subaru of Brampton will carry the full Subaru line up, which includes:
* the Subaru Tribeca and Subaru Forester, comfortable and environmentally friendly SUVs;
* the stylish, versatile and economical Subaru Impreza, with a rally-inspired performance edge;
*  the Subaru Outback, a fun crossover vehicle; and
*  the smooth driving Subaru Legacy, available as either a sleek sedan or a stylish wagon.

Subaru Canada also has an impressive commitment to the environment.  Subaru offers the most fuel efficient all-wheel drive vehicle lineup in North America. Subaru Canada also offers Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (PZEV) Legacy and Outback models that are certified to meet California's stringent Super-Ultra-Low-Emission Vehicle exhaust emission standard.  Additionally, Subaru was the first manufacturer with an auto assembly plant to achieve zero landfill status.  The plant sends less trash to landfills than the average North American household.

Subaru of Brampton is located between Kia of Brampton and Planet Ford on Canam Crescent, in the heart of the Brampton Auto Mall.  Due to the high demand for a Subaru store in Brampton, the new dealership will initially be operating out of a temporary facility until the new store is complete.

About Subaru Canada:

Demystifying All-Wheel Drive

Myth #1: AWD is only for bad weather and rough roads.

Most people think All-Wheel Drive is only about better handling on bad roads and in bad weather. Some manufacturers even encourage this myth by offering "on-demand" AWD systems that only kick in when the powered wheels begin to slip. But the fact is, a well-designed AWD system can actively improve safety and driving enjoyment in any situation under any conditions.

Myth #2 : AWD and 4WD are the same thing.

More and more, car buyers are coming to understand that powering two axles makes for better traction than powering one. But there are a number of ways to accomplish this, each with its strengths and weaknesses. Choosing the right solution for your driving needs is no simple matter because manufacturers use terms like "AWD", "4WD", "4X4" and "Full-time AWD" almost interchangeably. The trick is to understand what is actually being offered and whether the system actually delivers the driving benefits you are looking for.

Myth #3: All-Wheel Drive is an add-on option.

Subaru has always pursued the goal of building safer vehicles. That means doing everything possible to protect vehicle occupants in the event of a collision (passive safety). But vehicles should also give drivers the best possible chance of avoiding that collision in the first place (active safety)

How best to maximize active safety? Begin with All-Wheel Drive. Adding AWD components to 2WD designs robs the vehicle of stability and symmetry. Subaru vehicles are designed with All-Wheel Drive in mind. Maximizing traction and maximizing vehicle stability requires symmetry.

Myth #4: One size fits all.

Many manufacturers offer an All-Wheel Drive system but Subaru's thirty-five plus years of AWD experience allows us to offer a variety of AWD systems, tailoring AWD capabilities to the personalities of our various models. Subaru is the only manufacturer that offers more AWD systems than engines!
